No.
You don't need a CRM. You need a reply tracker and a reason people reply.
What's really going on
You have no inbound. You have a list and a sender — that's it. A CRM organizes conversations you're already having; you don't have conversations yet. Buying one now means you'll spend your week configuring stages instead of writing better opens and sending more volume. The real problem is simpler: can you get a cold prospect to reply, and do you follow up seven times when they don't.
What to do instead
- Apollo (what you already pay for) — use its built-in sequences and reply tracking. Stop exporting to Excel. Your "CRM" for now is Apollo's own inbox and task view.
- Google Sheets — one tab: company, contact, date of last touch, reply status, next action. That's it. Five columns. Takes 20 minutes to build.
- Habit — every reply, hot or cold, gets a follow-up booked the same day. Open Apollo now, filter contacts with "no reply after 3 touches", and queue touch 4 for the next 20 prospects. One sitting.
What you're being oversold
Someone will try to sell you HubSpot, Folk, or a full Outreach/Salesloft stack. Outreach-class tools are built for 20-person SDR teams — you'd pay thousands of rupees a month for dashboards no one reads. HubSpot's free tier is fine but pointless with zero inbound and one user; you'll get upsold into Sales Hub inside a quarter. Doing nothing costs you time, not money — every week in Excel is a week you're not learning which subject lines actually get opened.
When to revisit this
When you're juggling more than 15 active reply threads at once, or when you bring on a second person who needs to see your pipeline.
The part worth getting right
Decide what business you're actually running. If you're a lead intelligence agency — selling research as a service — your pipeline will be 20-50 slow, high-value deals and Apollo + a sheet is enough for a year. If you're really a lead-gen SaaS or productized service aiming for volume inbound later, the first spend isn't a CRM — it's a landing page and a WhatsApp number (AiSensy, since you're in Chennai) so replies have somewhere to land. Pick wrong and you'll either over-tool a boutique practice or under-build a volume funnel. Which one are you actually building.
